Public Review Reports
Dissatisfaction is major concern expressed by communities about being fairly engaged in developments that affect their biophysical, cultural, social and economic environment.
People need to feel sufficiently involved in projects that affect their environment and well-being. In order to empower marginalized people and strengthen local communities, a Public Participation Process must be undertaken as per requirement in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations of 4 December 2014 (as amended).
A Public Participation Process (PPP) is a process in which potential Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) are given an opportunity to comment on, or raise issues relevant to, specific matters in a prescribed process. An effective PPP depends in the manner in which things are communicated. This principle enhances democracy and social learning, increases public acceptance and confidence, improves transparency, accountability in decision making, sustainable development and environmental protection. Transparency is a concept that also improves credibility and process of EIAs. Contact the relevant consultant to register and comment as an I&AP.
